With this one assignment, students will climb the entire pyramid of Bloom’s Taxonomy.

Using Hero Machine version 2.0 at www.heromachine.com, students will create 2 versions of 2 characters of their choosing from Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet. For each character, students are to create a pre-reading version and a post-reading version. The pre-reading version will be based on a preview of the play and the students’ own perceptions of their chosen character before reading the text. The students are to write a 250 response to the following prompts: Why does your character look like he or she does? How and why did you choose the clothing, facial features, weapons, and/or items? What ideas/beliefs is your character based on? How is this reflected in his or her appearance? What kind of person is your character? What are some of his or her personality traits? How is this reflected in his or her appearance?

For the post-reading version of the character, students are to write a response to the following prompts: Compare and contrast your before and after versions. How and why did your character change or stay the same? Explain your choices in clothing, facial features, weapons, and/or items. What, if any, textual evidence did you use in creating your post-reading character? How is this reflected in his or her appearance? What kind of person is your character? What are some of his or her personality traits? How is this reflected in his or her appearance? What did you learn about the character after reading the text?
